Protecting Children from Today's Drinking Culture
We are a nation that loves to drink and we’re passing the habit on to our children. But a growing body of compelling new evidence will force us to reconsider the entire way we view alcohol and young people. it suggested that early exposure to alcohol in particular has a direct effect on brain cells, brain size, intellectual ability and school performance, future fertility an the way our genes function. It also warns that binge drinking may actually cause depression, and is linked to early and risky sex, and being a victim of accidents and crime. In this essential book, Dr Aric Sigman ties up the latest medical research and puts the findings into context.

There are other, equally important lessons that we all need to learn as children in order to have the best and brightest future. But most of these vital lessons are not being taught at school. This incredible book will help you instil in your children the basic qualities that school teachers just don’t have time to teach. Books on Raising Boys

I came across Bringing up Boys by James C Dobson about three year ago while looking for schools for my son. I was trying to figure out if he should be in an all boys school or a co-ed one and felt that reading about boys and observing my sons personality might help. I really enjoyed reading it and got alot of information about boys however it felt a bit conservative on some issues and upon mentioning this to a friend of mine who has two boys, she suggested that I also read The Wonder of Boys by Michael Gurian. Michael Gurian also delves deep into the way boys operate but does so in a more ‘open’ manner. Read together, the books just give such a wealth of information and along with your gut-feel as a parent you will be well on your way to raising amazing men. Good Luck!Book details

Puku Finds Out Why God Created Children
I just had to share this with my fellow Puku mates. To those of you who have kids I’m sure you’ll be able to relate to a lot of this and have a good’ol chuckle in the process.GOD CREATED CHILDREN (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)
To those of us who have children in our lives,
whether they are our own,
grandchildren,
nieces,
nephews,
or students…
here is something to make you chuckle.Whenever your children are out of control,
you can take comfort from the thought that
even God’s omnipotence did not extend
to His own children. After creating heaven and earth,
God created Adam and EveAnd the first thing he said was
‘ DON’T !’‘Don ‘t what ? ‘
Adam replied.‘Don’t eat the forbidden fruit.’
God said.‘Forbidden fruit ?
We have forbidden fruit ?
Hey Eve..we have forbidden fruit ! ‘‘ No Way ! ‘
‘Yes way !’‘Do NOT eat the fruit ! ‘
said God.‘Why ? ‘
‘Because I am your Father and I said so! ‘
God replied,
wondering why He hadn’t stopped
creation after making the elephantsA few minutes later,
God saw His children having an apple break
and He was ticked !
‘Didn’t I tell you not to eat the fruit ? ‘
God asked.‘Uh huh,’
Adam replied.‘Then why did you ? ‘
said the Father.‘I don’t know,’
said Eve.
‘She started it! ‘
Adam said.‘Did not ;! ‘
‘Did too ! ‘
‘DID NOT ! ‘Having had it with the two of them,
God’s punishment was that Adam and Eve
should have children of their own.
Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed. If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give children wisdom and they haven’t taken it,
don’t be hard on yourself..If God had trouble raising children,
what makes you think it would be
a piece of cake for you ?THINGS TO THINK ABOUT !
1. You spend the first two years of their life
teaching them to walk and talk Then you spend
the next sixteen telling them to sit down and shut up.2. Grandchildren are God’s reward
for not killing your own children.3. Mothers of teens now know why
some animals eat their young.4. Children seldom misquote you.
In fact,
they usually repeat word for word
what you shouldn’t have said5. The main purpose of holding children’s parties
is to remind yourself that there are children
more awful than your own6. We childproofed our homes,
but they are still getting in.ADVICE FOR THE DAY:
Be nice to your kids.
They will choose your
nursing home one dayAND FINALLY:
IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF TENSION
AND YOU GET A HEADACHE,
DO WHAT IT SAYS
ON THE ASPIRIN BOTTLE:‘TAKE TWO ASPIRIN’
AND ‘KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN’!!!!! -

Peter Rabbit Goes Organic
Considering that Beatrix Potter was a conservationist and farmer, I’m pretty sure that as the creator of Peter Rabbit she would be thrilled to know that Peter Rabbit is encouraging healthy eating habbits for kids. One of the most beloved characters from children’s literature, Peter Rabbit, is thumping his stamp of approval on a fresh, new way for kids and babies to eat healthfully: pure organic fruit puree in a pouch.
With no added sugar, preservatives or artificial ingredients, Peter Rabbit Organics fruit pouches are made in the U.S.A. and come in three delicious, kid-friendly varieties: Apple and Grape, Strawberry and Banana, and Mango, Banana and Orange. The company’s fruit purees are already a hit in the U.K., where babies, toddlers and kids love the naturally sweet taste and the squishy, squeezy fun, and parents appreciate the mess-free, resealable pouches, and safe, anti-choke cap.
“Our flavor names match our ingredients. What you see on the label is what’s inside,” said Ben Ford of PR Organics. “While kids think they’re just brilliant, what’s really smart is how the pouches make eating healthy fruit a handy option for on-the-go mums. No more searching for missing spoons – just good, squeezable fun.”
