Sizwe’s dream was to be a boxer when he grew up. He loved boxing, but his father refused to allow him to box. Then he changed schools and his new school had a boxing team. He joined the team without telling his father. When his father found out he was furious and threw him out of his house. The other boys in the team were jealous of Sizwe and tried to sabotage him.

New KZN Publisher Aims to Develop Second Language Readers

New KwaZulu-Natal based publisher, New Readers Publishing, is a non-profit publishing project that focuses on the development of readers for newly literate adults and second language learners. The aim of the project is to contribute to an increase in adult literacy and the promotion of a reading culture.

Since 1991 NRP has published 92 titles for newly literate adults and distributed some 250000 books locally and internationally. It has published books in each of South Africa’s eleven official languages, at all levels of the Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) framework, in a variety of genres.
