Rwandan Children and American Students Work Together to Publish Books
In collaboration with university students from the United States, learners of Kabwende Primary Centre (KPC) located in Kinigi, the Northern Province of Rwanda, have written a book titled The world is our home. This is the second book written by the students from the two countries making the collection a truly cross-cultural anthology. This year’s volume contains 47 stories.
The books are published under the project called ‘Books and Beyond’ which connects learners from KPC to students of Indiana University’s Global Village Living-Learning Centre .
According to Lauren Caldarera, the Assistant Director of Global Village Living-Learning Center, the project fosters critical thinking skills as the students author, illustrate, publish and market an anthology of children’s stories.
“The stories are used as a tool to aid in teaching English to the students at Kabwende Primary School,” Caldarera said in a statement released yesterday.
