Grabouw Teen Publishes Romance Fantasy Book
Teen writer Monique Hollis had just turned 13 when she decided to write a book. In just over a year, at 14, she finished her first novel. Monique’s book was self-published and this process is more challenging than most people think. After selling hotdogs and ice creams to raise the R5000 needed to publish her book, Monique, of Grabouw, launched her book Fire and Ice last week“It took me all by surprise – finishing the book, getting it published. The launch was the best feeling I’ve ever had in my entire life,” Monique said. There has been criticism; especially from those who think Monique is just ‘ copying’ the best-selling formula of the Twilight series. Monique is a fan of the books but maintains that her story is original.
Fire and Ice is a romance with a fair share of fantasy. It tells the story of Natasha, a teenager who is torn between two loves.
