A Visit to Two Cape Town Books Stores

What better way to start a Monday morning than to take a drive to Kalk Bay. Bontle and I were fortunate enough to start our Monday this way. No matter how long your to-do list may be, all that stress fades aways as you drive along the beach all the way to Kalk Bay Books. It’s already hot even though it’s only 09h45 but thanks to the cool air in Kalk Bay it feels just right. Then we walk in and if you love books as much as I do then at this point your heart starts to beat a bit faster. The wooden floored room has high ceilings which are filled with books from top to bottom. We introduce our selves to the woman behind the desk, who immediatly leads us to their children’s section and at this point I just couldn’t hide my excitement and actually give out a loud sigh. Though we could easily spend the whole morning here, time is not really on our side and we must move on the next book store on our list, so of we go to Folio Books in Newlands.
Folio Books seems more like a children’s book store from the outside because it is very colorful. Once inside you feel as though you are stepping into someone’s home, it’s warm and cozy with its carpeted floors and different rooms for different sections including an events room which is apparently where all the children’s Saturday morning story-time happen. Again my heart is racing with excitement as I look at all the books on the shelves around me. They have a rather extensive Young Adult section which Bontle is glad to see as she has a particular interest in this category.
